What fun! Imagine you get the equivalent of $ 42.5 Million or so to go and buy 22 players? Or $ 100 Million for 15? If I had that much.... In any case, that's what these two games are about. For the Bundesliga, at the website www.kicker.de, I got to pick first 15 players with 60 Million DM: two goal keepers, four defenders, six midfielders, and three strikers. If a 'starter' is not starting in real life, the computer (I think) goes to the back-up. Next, I was 'given' 25 Million DM more to buy players. That way, I was able to get Hans-Jörg Butt and Roque Santa Cruz. Neither has paid off yet, mind you. That's how it goes! Click here to see the full squad and their stats: Bundesliga Fantasy Team.
Next, I found a site for the EPL. Here, I got 70 Million pounds to buy players. For this site, www.fantasyleague.com, I had to pick players, as with the Bundesliga, but here I had to choose my formation (442). I had a rough time picking players-rougher in many ways than the Bundesliga, despite the fact that this site was in English. Perhaps because I had watched so many Bundesliga matches in the past two years I was familiar with more players in Germany. As manager here, you have to pick your squad every week, but if the player is not starting, the computer does not automatically insert your choice. The major difference is price. The Bundesliga game was free; the EPL one was not. The Bundesliga players included those whose valuation was recorded at 500,000 DM, or $250,000. I have one on my team. The EPL game did not go below 3 Million pounds, as far as I can tell. That's a helluva difference. In the last week, two more teams have been added to the mix. First, I entered the Gridiron Challenge for the NFL. Today, I entered the championsmanager.com Champions League game. So again, click here for Bundesliga Fantasy Team and for English Premier Fantasy Team. |
