A rough match with three players sent off, including new signee Sutton. Celtic played out the final minutes nine against ten.

So, Celtic have started on the right foot for 2000/2001. Keep it up, Bhoys!

New Signings for the Hoops

Martin O'Neill has done well this summer. He signed Chris Sutton from Chelsea on a transfer of pounds 6 million (paid for by the transfer of Viduka from Celtic to Leeds Utd.) and just before the match against Dundee Utd., Joos Valgaeren from Roda (NL) for 3.8 million. Sutton will make a great contribution to Larsson up front, and Joos will anchor what has been a leaky defence. MON isn't finished yet. Among other worries for Celtic have been problems between the sticks. Talks are under way with Marc Bosnich. Celtic are hoping to close the deal to bring the keeper over on a one-season loan from Manchester United. The former Villa keeper lost his no. 1 jersey this summer with the arrival of Fabien Barthez. If this deal goes through, Celtic will get a (potential) steal. Perhaps the biggest signing could be the transfer of Irish midfielder Neil Lennon from Leicester City, the club MON managed last year. Lennon moved up the ranks of English Premier League stars under MON's tutelage. Hopefully, their partnership will continue.
