Soccer Pages
As a soccer team, you'd expect pages devoted to soccer. I don't stop there, but that is very important for this site.

Before beginning, there is my own Pre-Season Predictions for the 2000-01 season. Check them out!

First, there is of course a link to my own page for the greatest team in the world, Celtic. Currently running at a perfect 5-0-0, Celtic last week scored 13 goals in two matches: 7-0 against Jeunesse d'Esch in UEFA Cup Qualifying, and a whopping 6-2 against our biggest enemies, the team across the water, R**gers. Celtic have the greatest support in the world, bar none.

Second, I have a page for the English Premier League. My own team there is West Ham-with Dr. Marten's as a sponsor and Billy Bragg as a supporter, who could ask for more? Perhaps changing the tops to green and white hoops and placing a nice shamrock on the badge could do. They are not doing terribly well at the moment, however. This page is still being worked on, but does contain the latest results, tables, and fixtures for the league.

Third comes Die Bundesliga. Third on the page, first in our hearts. Since I've been in Germany this summer, there is considerably more on German football than English-quite the reverse of most Americans. My team in Germany is SV Werder Bremen in Bundesliga 1 and St. Pauli in Bundesliga 2. Here I've done my research...not much, but enough. And I've come up with a critique of the league's Tricots, or uniforms as we say in America. Is there a league with uglier ones, besides Belgium? Besides Bundesliga 1, there is also material on Bundesliga 2.

I was going to have a page for Serie A, but that was way too much. My team there is AS Roma, simply because of their maroon and orange-same as Virginia Tech. Remember, if God isn't a wolf, then why do the leaves turn maroon and orange in the autumn? If you get to this page and have something to say about Italian football, please email me: leftyjoska@netscape.net.

Instead, I have decided to build two pages-one for Champions League and one for UEFA Cup. Here, you can see how the best teams in Europe are faring in these club competitions. As mentioned above, Celtic are in the first round of the UEFA Cup right now and next face Helsinki. Why couldn't the UEFA people, though, put 'gers in a group with Juve, Arsenal, and Barca? For the next couple months, I'm going to be a part-time supporter of Galatasaray, Sturm Graz, and Monaco.

Football...American Style
As an American, I grew up with the NFL. My father was first a fan of the Dolphins (Strock from Va. Tech was the back-up for years) then a Bills fan (Bruce Smith was from Va. Tech). I got fed up with the Bills after losing in the Super Bowl a record four times in a row. All my friends were Redskins fans; I'm whole-heartedly one now. This section isn't as developed, but should be. I've asked friends to submit quick blurbs about their NFL teams: Redskins, of course; but hopefully also the Steelers, Browns, Giants, and Bucs. My prediction for the Super Bowl? Redskins, of course. They've got Bruce Smith now. Maybe my father will become a Skins fan?

Also way underdeveloped is the page for College Sports, which this time of year means football. I have so far attended classes at four universities: William and Mary, Virginia Commonwealth, and, American. Of these, only W&M has a football team; and they're in Division I-AA, not I-A. Dad went to Virginia Tech, so I'm a natural supporter. I'm also sympathetic with Notre Dame-Go Irish. As the season progresses, perhaps I'll get my act together and come up with something more. Right now, there is only a Work-in-Progress sign for this link.

Fantasy Teams has pages for my own. Right now, there are two: one in Bundesliga, the other in English Premier League. See how stupid I really am in football. I started Stranzl (1860 München) first week of the season. He got thrown out with a yellow-red and netted me -9 points. I also frantically switched my EPL team around in order to get Christian Ziege, who was transferred from Middlesbrough to Liverpool. And he didn't start that day. Hopefully, there will be other teams down the line, including an NFL one this week, and later an ice hockey and a basketball team.

Other Sports
Right now, I don't have anything up for the other sports: baseball, basketball, hockey. Nor for the Olympics. Baseball started before I started learning HTML anyhow. And basketball and hockey will be starting pre-season soon. Check back to see.
